Freelance Coding

I will be retiring from my position as a C# instructor for the blind at the beginning of November. My family and I will be moving to Zambia as missionaries. However, plans have changed a little, and now I will need to get a job from November until July.

Since we are moving to Zambia, it would be great if I could get a telecommuting job so that we can travel freely and be with family. Right now, I am testing the waters to see if Freelance coding will work.

I joined RentACoder.com 4 years ago and never got a job. However, in these past years I have become more of an expert C# programmer. Three weeks ago I tried again and quickly won my first bid for $150. Since then, the bids are getting better and this looks like it might work out.

So at this point, it seems that God is blessing the plan and I will become a full time freelance programmer in November. I have made 3-4 strong business contacts already who say they have plenty of work for me. In addition, the guy I am currently working for says he might have a 6 month contract position in January. Cool!

So, if you think that freelance programming over the internet is just for peanuts. Well, I have had a different experience. (Although, I was getting a teachers salary, so maybe "just peanuts" is an upgrade :-)
